The Mary’s Meals magazine is the main printed publication the charity uses to communicate offline with its grassroots support base. It is given to supporters who have signed up to receive postal communications, given away at fundraising events and is available on request.
With around 40% of supporters on our database contactable by post only a printed publication is an essential part of the marketing mix.
Over the course of 7 years, I developed the branding and content of this key publication.
Developing layouts, illustrations and a suite of icons, I created a consistent style and attractive collection of publications.
The magazine contains stories from all around the world, featuring updates about the children who receive Mary’s Meals, the communities served by the charity and the fundraisers who make it all possible. Its main focus is to raise awareness of the work carried out by Mary’s Meals, building relationships with supporters and to encourage new supporters to join the mission.
The magazine became a staple of the marketing schedule, being mailed to supporters once or twice a year. These mailout would see around a 10% increase I donation volume compared to standard appeal letter mailings.
The magazine also became a great tool used at events to give as a ‘take home’ piece of marketing. A steady stream of new donors comes from the magazine’s donation from.
