I created this campaign on behalf of USC Fashion as a way to promote a new line of boutique trainers designed by Android Homme.
I felt the shoes had a uniquely industrial and somewhat of a sci-fi look about them. So I created an other-worldly landscape in the studio, and shot a number of still-life’s of the trainers. On the whole the shoes were monochromatic and I wanted the images to reflect that. I also wanted to give a nod to the 'Helium Technology' used in their production, so I had the trainers appear to be defying gravity by floating or 'lifting off'. I took careful consideration when lighting the shoes as to show the various subtle textures and different materials that made up the trainers.
I kept the design and typography of these communications simple as to compliment and show off the images in the best possible way. Large expansive images were used with a lot of white space as to frame the images well. I also incorporated the company’s marks in the designs in a bold way in order to link in with the boutiques customer base.
The shoes sold well and the promotional imagery was picked up by the brand itself and used in their oversees campaigns. The quality of the work built a good relationship with the brand and was a very helpful tool in keeping the partnership in future years.
